Louisiana Digital Gaming Initiative Service Summary

We provide services through our four major cornerstones: economic and business development, community and associations support, entrepreneur programs including resource publications, and workforce talent generation through Education and Philanthropy. LDGI will also provide marketing efforts through different mediums to draw software, digital media, and electronic gaming firms to Louisiana.

Economic and Business Development

LDGI works with a league of contracted consultants to bring new projects to Louisiana. These projects include start-ups, company expansions or relocation.
Our consultants provide services for each of LDGI’s main sectors, which include software, digital media, social media, and electronic gaming. Also our consultants are strategically based in different locations where development has flourished
LDGI’s consultants are compensated throughout our regional and LDGI’s reserve funds. Consultants are only compensated on the basis of a “finder’s fee” on closed deals. The range of compensation is from 25% to 50% of a point of the capital investment ( $1 Million USD Project would cost $2,500 in consulting fees)
One of LDGI’s goals is to assist in the compensation of consulting fees on closed deal with the different economic development groups. This is only is LDGI reaches over 100% of its campaign funding. LDGI would assist in payment for consultants’ fees based on contributions and partnerships.

Community Support

International Game Developers Association
Chapters of Louisiana
One of the key goals of Louisiana Digital Gaming Initiative is promoting and guiding International Game Developers Association chapters in Louisiana. We strive to promote developer communities through educating, event coordinating and sponsoring. IGDA provides essential tools for professional development and advocacy of the game and digital media industry.  Each major region having a chapter in place will promote and support game manufacturing, talent generation, and employment opportunities.
We are one of the major sponsors for all Louisiana's IGDA Chapters. We will provide networking opportunities and services to all Louisiana members and look forward to working with each region’s chapters to promote Louisiana’s digital media and video game manufacturing.
Currently Louisiana has chapters in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette.

Entrepreneur Opportunities and Programs

Project LUIGI
Louisiana United Interactive Gaming Initiative is an ongoing project and service provided by Louisiana Digital Gaming Initiative. The main purpose for LUIGI is to create a resource guide of Louisiana's incentives, benefits and support organizations. This includes a manual for independent game development, entrepreneur opportunities, recommendations for different projects, and a guide to understand Louisiana's city and state government agencies. LUIGI follows the true steps of a start-up game studio here in Louisiana. We have news feeds and video blogs to record every single step.
At the end of Project LUIGI, a PlayStation Network game will be downloadable and playable for everyone.  Our business model and reference studio for this project is ThatGameCompany, LLC with the "Flower" title.

LOGINConference.com

LOGIN is a conference that was started in Washington to be a meeting place of professional working in the online gaming industry. With the growing Digital Media and Digital Gaming industries in Louisiana, we have decided to move this successful conference to Louisiana to promote economic development and give these growing industries something to be excited about. LOGIN is a great opportunity for us to promote Louisiana as a state and the gaming industry as an every growing job market. By holding LOGIN in Louisiana we will be offering the premier executive digital media conference in the south from Texas to Georgia.
The online gaming market is diversifying, converging, and growing and we are excited to incorporate this market more heavily in the state of Louisiana.  The LOGIN Conference is designed for developers, service providers, and business leaders.  Over the past 5 years, LOGIN’s international attendee participation has grown dramatically.  In 2010 28% of LOGIN’s attendees were from countries other than the United States, including South Korea, China, Japan, United Kingdom, and Germany.  LOGIN has one of the highest ratios of business leaders for any game development conference, a majority of which are senior level executives.  This Conference attracts many upper level executives because of the networking potential, informative speeches, and advertisement options that are available to attendees.  There will be 4 distinctive rooms that focus on different general tracks of operation: legal, programming, design, and business.  LOGIN speakers are widely recognized and established professionals who shape the gaming industry.  Speakers include everyone from CEOs and COOs to the Senior Business Development Managers and Heads of Marketing and Consulting.
LOGIN expenses are to be paid for by Sponsorship. With estimated funds raised to be around $90,000, ticket sales and merchandise are projected to cover other expenses.
Sponsors will be able to purchase one of five packets that will include a suite for them at the hotel that they can use as a press room, advertising opportunities with the conference and a VIP pass to the conference the following year.
Conference attendees are international and domestic industry professionals, usually young professionals, looking to promote their company and learn more about what the industry has to offer. Keynote speakers are welcome to speak in depth to the conference of their successes and provide incite to how they ended up where they are now. This allows them to have contact with their fans on a more personal and intimate setting.

Workforce development: Education and Philanthropic efforts
DigiCon High

DigiCon High is an event held for local high school students who are serious about pursuing a career in the digital gaming industry. Students will benefit from several guest speakers, who will address the digital gaming industry and a panel of local developers, who will answer submitted questions from the students about career choices.
The program consists of brief presentations that will be administered by various collegiate digital media programs, such as game design, 3D arts, and design programming. Different companies and people from Louisiana backgrounds who are now involved in the video game and digital media industries will be discussed. Specific case studies of a developer’s path and company growth will also be addressed in order for the students to gain a better understanding of the digital gaming manufacturing. The guest speakers of the event will motivate the student about their own personal passions for concept art, 3D art, and programming.
Information on college degrees and scholarship opportunities will be discussed as students gain more knowledge from college recruiters. Job and internship opportunities in Louisiana will also be addressed. Lastly, students will have an opportunity to participate and win prizes in a trivia contest at the event.
Participation in future DigiCon High events are hoped to increase significantly with the availability of photos, videos, and documents of the event on the DigiCon High webpage.

Industry Workshops

We are working on offering workshops for industry professionals to update their skills in various programs. These workshops will be offered after office hours throughout the month. Our focus is to allow professionals in the Digital Media community to be able to expand their knowledge within the field by being taught how to execute various techniques as instructed by their peers.
George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts

In 2009, world-renowned artist George Rodrigue formed The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to advocate the importance of the visual arts in the development of our youth. They encourage the use of art within all curriculums and support a variety of art educational programs. In addition to providing financial assistance in the arts and other areas, they plan, develop, and implement a series of unique educational art programs that are specially designed to enhance and expand art curriculums, despite continuing state and federal cutbacks. Louisiana Digital Gaming Initiative is a proud supporter of GRFA. LDGI and GRFA are currently working together to develop a 3D art contest that follows a similar model to their already existing 2D art contest. Students will have the opportunity to submit 3D art and win college scholarships.
